Spot gold has been on a serious run. If you have old jewelry, broken chains, single earrings, scrap gold from a clean-out, or inherited pieces sitting in a drawer, that drawer might be worth more than you think. Here’s a clear-headed guide to what gold jewelry is actually worth — and how to make sure you get a fair number when you bring it in.

The Three Things That Matter

1. Karat. 24K is pure gold. 18K is 75% gold. 14K is 58.3%. 10K is 41.7%. Most American jewelry is 14K or 10K. European pieces are often 18K. The stamp is usually inside a ring shank, on a clasp, or on a chain tag — sometimes “750” (18K), “585” (14K), or “417” (10K).

2. Weight. We weigh in front of you on a calibrated scale, in grams. A typical gold chain might be 5-30 grams. A men’s ring 5-15 grams. A bracelet 10-40 grams. Stones get deducted (we estimate weight unless we can pop the stone).

3. Spot price the day you walk in. Spot gold moves daily. Our offer is based on the day’s spot, the karat, and the gram weight, minus a small refining margin. We’ll show you the math.

The Rough Math

Quick mental check: if spot is $2,400/oz, that’s about $77/gram for pure gold (24K). 14K is roughly 58% of that — about $45/gram of melt value. We pay a percentage of melt that depends on the piece (chains and clean scrap pay closer to spot; complicated pieces with lots of stones pay further from spot because of labor to break them down). For a 20-gram 14K chain, you’re looking at hundreds of dollars, not tens.

What We Buy

Jewelry (rings, chains, bracelets, earrings, pendants — broken or whole), gold coins (Eagles, Krugerrands, Maples, Pandas, Sovereigns), bullion (PAMP, Credit Suisse, Perth Mint, Engelhard bars), scrap (mismatched earrings, dental gold, broken charms), estate collections (whole boxes welcome).

Pawn vs. Sell on Gold

Gold is one of the easiest items to write a pawn loan on — it’s universal collateral. If you need cash now but don’t want to lose the chain your grandmother gave you, pawn it. Florida law gives you 30 days minimum with extensions. Pay it back, walk out with the chain.

Bring Everything

Don’t pre-sort and don’t throw out the “ugly” stuff. The bent earrings, the broken clasp, the single cufflink — it all has melt value. Bring it all, we’ll sort it on the counter, weigh it by karat, and write you one number.
