Jewelry Repair Miami: On-Site Resizing, Soldering & Restoration

Looking for honest, hands-on jewelry repair Miami locals have trusted for three decades? Walk into Advantage Pawn & Loan in Miami Gardens. We have a working jeweler’s bench inside the store, three generations of pawnbrokers and bench jewelers in the family, and a 30-year reputation for fixing rings, chains, bracelets, and watches without the markup of a mall jeweler. Free estimate the moment you walk in, no appointment needed, and most simple jobs are turned around the same day.

We are family-owned, bilingual (hablamos espanol), and we treat every customer the way we would treat our own grandmother dropping off her wedding band. That is not marketing copy — it is how three generations of our family have stayed in business in the same neighborhood.

Why Bring Your Repair to Advantage Pawn & Loan?

Most jewelry repair in Miami goes one of two ways. You either drop it at a mall chain that ships it out of state for two weeks, or you hand it to a stranger at a kiosk who ships it to who-knows-where. We are the third option: a local family bench, on-site, work done in front of you whenever the job allows.

Repairs We Do On-Site

Our bench handles the full range of routine and advanced jewelry repair. If you have a piece that has been sitting in a drawer for years because it is bent, broken, or no longer fits — bring it in. Most of these repairs are faster and cheaper than people expect.

Ring Sizing & Resizing

Sizing up or down in 14K, 18K, and 22K yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, and platinum. We can size most rings up to two sizes in either direction. Eternity bands, channel-set bands, and tension settings have specific limits we will explain before quoting. Sterling silver sizing is available, and we handle stretchy chain rings, signet rings, and class rings as well.

Prong Retipping & Re-Prong

Worn or broken prongs are the number one reason a center stone gets lost. We retip individual prongs, replace full prong heads, and rebuild four-prong, six-prong, and basket settings. If your engagement ring center stone is loose — stop wearing it and bring it in today.

Chain Solder & Repair

Broken rope chains, Cuban links, Figaro, herringbone, box, snake, Franco, mariner. We solder gold, platinum, and sterling silver chains. We also repair broken jump rings, replace lobster and box clasps, and fix bent links. If your chain has stretched in one section but the rest is solid, we can shorten it and restore the original look.

Bracelet & Necklace Clasp Replacement

Lobster claw, box clasp with safety, fold-over, magnetic, hidden box. We replace clasps on tennis bracelets, ID bracelets, charm bracelets, and pearl strands. We also restring pearls with silk and individual knots between each pearl — the way it should be done.

Watch Battery Replacement & Band Sizing

Watch batteries replaced while you wait, with a fresh gasket on water-resistant cases. Metal bracelet sizing for Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Cartier, Breitling, TAG Heuer, and most fashion brands — we add or remove links and adjust the micro-clasp. We do not service movements on luxury mechanical watches in-house, but we will tell you exactly what your watch needs and where to send it.

Stone Setting & Restoration

Lost a diamond from your engagement ring? Bring the ring and any matching stone you have. We bezel-set, prong-set, channel-set, and pave-set diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and most gemstones. We also restore broken-jewelry pieces — bent shanks, snapped wedding bands, cracked settings — and refinish surfaces with high-polish, satin, or hammered finishes.

Custom Jewelry Design

We turn old, unworn jewelry into something you actually want to wear. Bring in inherited pieces, broken sets, or just an idea on a napkin. We sketch, quote, and produce custom rings, pendants, and bracelets in-house using your gold and stones whenever possible. This is one of the most cost-effective ways to honor a family heirloom — you keep the metal and stones with sentimental value, but the piece becomes wearable again.

Engraving

Name-plate pendants, ID bracelets, inside-band wedding ring engraving, and gift engraving on the same day in most cases. Block, script, or signature-style fonts.

Gold & Silver Soldering

Hard solder, medium solder, soft solder — matched to the karat of your piece so the seam stays invisible and the structural integrity is maintained. We do not use lead solder on precious metal, period.

“My grandmother’s 1960s diamond engagement ring had two prongs worn down to nothing and the shank was so thin you could feel it flexing. I was scared to even hand it over. The jeweler at Advantage retipped all six prongs, half-shanked the band in matching 18K, and polished it like new. Three days, fair price, and it fits me now. I cried picking it up.” — Lourdes M., Miami Gardens

Repair Turnaround Times

Every repair is different, but here is a realistic guide based on what comes across our bench every week:

Repair Typical Turnaround
Watch battery replacement While you wait (10-20 min)
Watch band link sizing While you wait
Simple chain solder Same day
Ring sizing (one size up or down) Same day to 2 days
Prong retipping (single prong) 1-3 days
Full prong head replacement 3-5 days
Stone setting (replacement diamond) 3-7 days
Custom design 2-4 weeks
Pearl restringing with knots 5-7 days

If you have a deadline — an anniversary, a wedding, a flight — tell us when you walk in. We work around real-life timelines whenever the job allows.

What We Charge (And Why It Is Fair)

We do not post repair prices online because every job depends on the metal type, karat, weight of solder needed, and complexity of the setting. What we will promise is that you get a written estimate before any work begins, and we never start a repair without your sign-off. If you walk in with a competing written quote from a mall chain or another shop, bring it — we will look at the work scope and tell you honestly whether we can match or beat it.

For context, the GIA publishes consumer education on what fine jewelry repair should involve and what to ask before handing over a piece. We encourage everyone to read it before any major repair, anywhere.

Beyond Repair: Sell, Trade, or Pawn

Sometimes you bring a piece in for repair and it turns out the metal value or the stones are worth more than the piece is worth fixed. We will tell you that, and we will lay out every option on the table.

Sell the Gold

Broken chains, bent rings, mismatched earrings — if the piece is not worth repairing, the gold itself still has real value. See our cash for gold page for current per-gram payouts on 10K, 14K, 18K, and 22K.

Sell the Diamonds

If the setting is dead but the stones are alive, we buy loose diamonds, side stones, and full pave clusters. Read more on sell diamonds Miami.

Sell a Luxury Watch

Watch repair quote came back at $1,800 and the watch is only worth $2,200 fixed? Sometimes selling makes more sense. See sell my Rolex for our luxury watch buying program.

Pawn Instead

If you need cash and the piece is sentimental, a pawn loan from $5 to $50,000 with no credit check lets you keep the piece — we hold it as collateral, you redeem when you pay back. No impact on your credit either way.

“I brought in a tangled mess of broken chains and a Rolex Datejust that needed a battery (turns out it was an Oysterquartz, not the more common automatic). The jeweler sorted everything out in one visit — soldered three chains back into wearable pieces, replaced the battery and gasket, and bought the chains I did not want to keep. Walked out with cash, three repaired pieces, and a working watch. One stop.” — Andre B., North Miami

Frequently Asked Questions About Jewelry Repair in Miami

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. Every estimate is free and there is zero obligation. Walk in, get a written quote, walk out and think about it. No pressure.

How long does ring sizing take?

For most yellow-gold and white-gold solitaires, sizing one full size up or down is a same-day job if you bring it in early. Channel-set bands, eternity bands, and platinum may take 2-3 days because of the additional metal-working time.

Can you fix a broken rope chain or Cuban link?

Yes. Both are everyday work for our bench. We solder using the correct karat solder so the seam blends in. Most simple chain solders are same-day.

Will you work on a ring with sentimental value if you cannot make it look brand new?

Yes. We are very honest about what is achievable. Sometimes the best result is a structural repair that keeps the piece wearable while preserving its character — a 1940s ring is not supposed to look brand new. We will tell you exactly what we can and cannot do before we start.

Do you replace lost diamonds?

Yes. We have an in-house inventory of loose stones in common sizes (melee, side stones, and center stones up to 2 carats) and we can match cut, color, and clarity to your existing set. If you bring the original GIA report, even better.

Can you work on a Rolex or other luxury watch?

Battery replacements (on quartz models), bracelet sizing, and bezel insert swaps — yes. Movement service on mechanical Rolex, AP, or Patek — we do not do that in-house. We will tell you the truth and point you to the right specialist.

What if my repair quote is more than the piece is worth?

We will tell you. You can still pay for the repair if the piece is sentimental, or you can sell the gold and stones to us at fair market value. No pressure either way.

Do you do custom design from old jewelry?

Yes — this is one of our favorite jobs. Bring in your inherited pieces and we sketch, quote, and produce a new piece using your existing metal and stones whenever possible. Lead time is typically 2-4 weeks.
