Why Sell Your Diamonds to Advantage Pawn & Loan?
Most people who sell a diamond are doing it for one of three reasons: a divorce, a death in the family, or an upgrade. None of those are easy moments. The last thing you need is a buyer who lowballs you, drags out the process, or makes you feel like you’re being hustled. We get it. Here’s how we’re different:
- 30 years, 3 generations of jewelers. We’ve graded thousands of diamonds. We know what’s real, what’s lab-grown, what’s enhanced, and what’s worth real money.
- Free, no-obligation appraisal. Walk in, get a number, walk out. No pressure to sell.
- We beat any written offer. Bring us a quote from another buyer and we’ll top it.
- Same-day cash. Accept the offer and walk out with money the same hour.
- You can also pawn instead of selling. Need cash but want to keep the diamond? We offer pawn loans up to $50,000 with no credit check.
What Diamonds We Buy
If it has carbon and sparkle, we’ll look at it. Our buyers handle everything from a quarter-carat solitaire to multi-carat estate showpieces.
Engagement Rings & Wedding Bands
Solitaires, halos, three-stones, vintage Art Deco, modern princess and cushion cuts, eternity bands, anniversary rings. Whether you have the GIA or AGS report or not, we’ll appraise on the spot. We buy ring sizes from petite half-carats to massive 5+ carat center stones.
Tennis Bracelets & Necklaces
Diamond tennis bracelets are some of our most-traded items. Whether yours is 2 carat total weight or 20+ carat, in 14K, 18K, or platinum, we’ll weigh it, grade the stones, and write you a check.
Loose Stones
Round brilliant, princess, cushion, oval, emerald, pear, marquise, radiant, asscher, heart. Certified or uncertified. We use loupes, scopes, and electronic testers in front of you.
Estate & Heirloom Jewelry
Antique pieces from Tiffany, Cartier, Harry Winston, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, David Yurman. Old European cut and old mine cut stones often command premium prices because they’re irreplaceable.
Diamond Watches
Diamond-set Rolex, Cartier, AP, Patek Philippe. We pay for both the watch and the stones. See our sell my Rolex page for luxury-watch specifics.
“My ex-husband insisted on the biggest engagement ring his salary could afford. After the divorce I shopped four jewelers in Miami before walking into Advantage. They beat the highest offer by almost $2,000 and the gentleman who appraised it actually explained the 4Cs to me — first time anyone bothered. I left feeling respected, not hustled.” — Daniela P., Aventura
The 4Cs: What We Actually Look At
Diamond pricing is not arbitrary. It’s driven by the 4Cs — Carat, Cut, Color, Clarity — plus a handful of secondary factors. Here’s what our buyers evaluate:
Carat (Weight)
The single biggest price driver. Larger stones are exponentially rarer, so a 2-carat stone is worth far more than two 1-carat stones of the same quality. We weigh on calibrated scales accurate to 0.01 carat.
Cut (Proportion & Symmetry)
Cut grade affects how the stone returns light. Excellent and ideal cuts command premiums. Poor cuts can knock 20-30% off the price even on a beautiful rough stone.
Color (D to Z Scale)
D, E, F are colorless and most valuable. G, H, I are near-colorless and the sweet spot for value buyers. J-M show progressively more yellow tint. Fancy colors (blue, pink, yellow, green) are graded on a separate scale and can be worth more than colorless stones of the same size.
Clarity (FL to I3 Scale)
Internally Flawless (IF) is the top. VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2 are excellent and eye-clean. SI1, SI2 are good value but may show minor inclusions. I1, I2, I3 have visible inclusions that affect both beauty and durability.
Beyond the 4Cs
Fluorescence, polish grade, symmetry grade, depth percentage, and table percentage all factor into our offer. So does whether the stone has a GIA grading report. Certified stones from GIA, AGS, or HRD typically command 5-15% more because the grading is independent and trusted.
Should You Sell, Pawn, or Trade?
Not everyone who walks in to “sell” actually sells. Sometimes a pawn loan or a trade makes more sense. We’ll lay out all three options for you with no pressure.
Sell Outright
Best if you’re certain you don’t want the piece back, you need maximum cash now, or you’re settling an estate. You get the highest dollar amount this way.
Pawn Loan
Best if you need cash temporarily but want to keep the diamond. We hold it as collateral, you pay interest, and you get the piece back when you redeem. No credit check, loans from $5 to $50,000.
Trade-In
Want to upgrade or downsize? We have a full inventory of diamond jewelry at both stores and we’ll trade your piece toward something else, often at a higher effective rate than a straight cash-out.
For gold settings, melt value is calculated separately and added to the stone value. See our cash for gold page for current per-gram pricing.
How the Process Works
- Walk in to either of our two South Florida stores with your diamond. Bring any GIA paperwork if you have it. If you don’t, no problem — we grade in-house.
- Free appraisal. We weigh the stone, grade it under magnification, test the metal, and walk you through every number.
- Cash offer. We tell you what we’ll pay. You decide. No pressure, no time limit on thinking it over.
- Same-day payment. Accept and we cut a check or hand you cash on the spot.
The whole process usually takes 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the complexity of the piece.
“I inherited my mother’s tennis bracelet and three rings. I had no idea what any of it was worth. The appraiser at Advantage took his time, used a loupe and a tester, and explained which stones were the best. He didn’t push me to sell anything I wasn’t ready to part with. I sold the bracelet, kept the rings, and felt good about both decisions.” — Marcus T., Miramar

Frequently Asked Questions About Selling Diamonds in Miami
Do I need a GIA certificate to sell my diamond?
No. A GIA, AGS, or HRD report helps and may increase the price 5-15%, but it’s not required. We grade stones in-house using calibrated equipment, and we explain every step.
How much is a 1-carat diamond worth in Miami?
It depends entirely on cut, color, clarity, and certification. A 1-carat round brilliant in G-VS2 ideal cut with a GIA report might wholesale at $3,000-$4,500. The same carat weight in a lower color and clarity could be $1,200-$1,800. Bring it in for a free appraisal and we’ll give you an exact number.
Can you tell if a diamond is lab-grown?
Yes. We use specialized testers that distinguish natural diamonds from lab-grown (CVD or HPHT) and from moissanite or cubic zirconia. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, but they trade at a fraction of natural prices, so the distinction matters for your payout.
Will you buy a diamond ring without the original receipt or box?
Absolutely. We need a valid government-issued ID, but the original receipt, box, and papers are not required. They help with high-end branded pieces (Tiffany, Cartier, Harry Winston) but are not mandatory.
What if I have a diamond ring with sentimental value but I need cash?
Consider a pawn loan instead of an outright sale. We hold your ring securely, lend you cash, and return the ring when you pay back the loan. No credit check, no impact on your credit, and you keep the heirloom.
How long does it take to get paid?
Same day. The moment you accept our offer, we hand you cash or write a check. There’s no wire transfer wait, no escrow, no shipping period.
Do you buy broken or damaged diamond jewelry?
Yes. Even if the setting is broken, the band is bent, or stones are missing, the diamonds and metal still have value. Bring it in.
